F is for Fall!

Fall is finally here. We'll it felt that way for a few days at least. This is my favorite time of the year. I love the cool, crisp air,
watching all the leaves change colors, and cozy fires with hot cocoa. Not to mention, the yummy smells of apple pie, pumpkin, cinnamon...Makes me ready to dive into Thanksgiving. Colin read about Johnny Appleseed the other day as it was his birthday on the 26th. This is a popular topic for preschool children and early elementary children to learn about. Anyway, he had fun painting an apple tree. We painted his forearm brown for the trunk, the palm of his hand green for the foliage and the the tip of a finger to make the apples. He was so proud and enjoyed the experience. He wanted to know when I was going to let him paint with his feet. I'll have to ponder that idea...and knowing me It'll happen I just have to figure out how to do it and minimize the mess. We also cut open an apple to discover the star within and did apple prints and then baked a few apples and made applesauce. Colin, Luke and Ava loved that treat. Saturday is Colin's last day of Tiny Tots Flag Football. He is a little bummed and wants to know what's next. So, I will call our recreation department and see what else they have for his age group this winter. Social Services called me yesterday and informed me that they are extremely backlogged with child care complaints (which take priority over applicants) so I will be lucky if I receive my site visit by the end of October. That's a bummer! It's the last thing to happen before I am issued my license. I hope it doesn't take much longer than that. I am anxious to have a full load and a few new friends for Colin to play with.
