A couple of weeks ago Colin was on Fall break from school. My mom and Jeff took Colin for a four day weekend over to the coast. He was spoiled and pampered all weekend long. This kid was in hog heaven. Jeff and my mom made him feel so special. They got tickets to ride the Skunk Train, through all the beautiful redwoods. Colin loves trains to begin with, so this was a real adventure. They stayed at a hotel with an ocean view. Colin had his own queen size bed. He was sure to tell me that they let him eat in bed and he could watch TV all at once (this obviously doesn't happen at home). They stopped at a restaurant on the way and had breakfast. Colin said the pancakes were as big as his plate and topped with blackberries. Yummo! A little further on they stopped to get a snack. Gatorade and M&M's. I think Colin was supposed to share the M&M's with Jeff. That never happened. Poor Jeff. I should of warned him my kid can eat. The hotel had an indoor swimming pool, so Jeff and Colin went for a little dip. They also played down at the beach. Colin has a tractor that he keeps at their house, so mom and Jeff let Colin bring it along. He loaded and unloaded rocks and other treasures until the cows came home. He brought me back a bag of sea glass the he found (or should I say my mom, she did most of the work) and what he liked to call "sea metal." If anybody knows me well enough they know that I am not an adventurous eater. In particular I don't like seafood. My son though, surprised the heck out of me and mom and Jeff. They took him to a pretty fancy restaurant one evening and although they ordered him chicken, he managed to also eat crab cakes and most of the mussels Jeff ordered. Had Jeff known Colin would devour the plate he would have ordered more. I love Colin's adventurous spirit and his willingness to try new things. I should take notes. My son could teach me a few things. So here are some pictures of his fun filled weekend with my mom and Jeff. They are a bit out of order, so I'll narrate.
