Decorating for Christmas!

Our family tradition is to decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. The kids and I work on the inside while Max is outside putting up the lights. It was a particularly chilly weekend, so we rented movies, snuggled in for the weekend, and I joined millions of people for a little black Friday shopping. I must be nutz. My mom came over on Sunday and we did a little more shopping for my nieces. Mom got that package out the next day. I she waited on me they'd never get it. While shopping I found the cutest little 4" pre-lit Christmas tree for the kids play room. They have loved decorating it with all the ornaments we have been making this month. Applesauce-Cinnamon ornaments, hand painted wooden figures, and gingerbread people.
We got the stockings hung by the chimney with care and the kids are hoping St. Nick will soon be here.
My strategy for decorating the tree is fragile family ornaments up top and soft, non-breakable kid friendly ornaments at the bottom. Colin made sure he told Luke and Ava he had done this before and kept showing them where things should go and what not to touch. I just smiled the whole time. I realized in that moment that I have everything I could ever want. Three healthy, happy, beautiful and fun children and an amazing husband who works so hard to provide for this family. We were all cozy in our toasty house enjoying these special moments and I thought about people who are apart from their loved ones or those that the economy has severely effected. My hearts and hopes for a better year go out to them.
My cup runeth over!
