Columbia!

Father's day weekend was filled lots of sun, camping, classic planes and cars and in the town of Columbia. We stayed at a very quaint RV Park called 49er RV Ranch. It was small, but filled with so much country character and the hospitality was like no other. We reserved a trailer and campsite right next to us for my dad and Lupe. They are thinking of buying their own trailer, so this gave them a trial run.

On Saturday we woke up and ate a great breakfast, which always tastes better when cooked outdoors. We were only about a mile away from Columbia State Park. Where we made hand dipped candles, saw real stage coach, gold panning, beautiful historic homes and buildings. After enjoying the park we drove to the Columbia Airport where they were having a Classic Airplane Fly-in.
We had all the dogs with us and they weren't allowed in, so all the boys stayed and played while Lupe and I took Ava and the dogs back to the campground for some ice cream and fun in the sun. The guys enjoyed watching a variety of planes take off and perform. There were P-51's, Classic Bi-planes, the Coast Guard and many more. There were also classic cars.

The kids enjoyed getting ice cream and playing games on the front porch of the old fashioned general store at the campground.

Shamrock enjoyed all the walking and socializing. With each camping trip he gets more comfortable with the routine.
Here we are at the Candle Dipping Garden. Tucked away behind a big iron gate we found this enchanting activity. All the employees of the State Park dress in period clothing. It really added to the charm and excitement of the day.

Colin, Luke and Ava in front of the many beautiful buildings. This was a restaurant.
Ava in front of the local general store...it even smelled old timey inside. I loved it!

Colin and Luke chillin' by the barber shop pole. So many things to see and do we didn't even scratch the surface. Colin, Luke and Ava made friends with several kids at the campground. They had lots of fun playing tether ball and riding their bikes and scooters. We got together for s'mores that evening around the fire pit that everyone from the campground could join. They were laughing and sharing stories. Lupe and dad brought glow in the dark sticks they turned into necklaces and bracelets, giving us a high energy light show in the dark. Too funny, set to some techno music and this would of made a great YouTube video. We woke on Father's Day to a yummy pancake, sausage and egg breakfast in the big barn complimentary of 49er. All in all a great weekend. We'd love to do it again. We love Gold Country.
