For several years now I have had this framed ABC & 123 tin punch. I found it at Grandma and Grandpa McCaffrey's house when we spent the summer cleaning, organizing, purging and getting ready for the estate sale.
Anyway, I found it wedged between the refrigerator and wall in their kitchen. It was covered in grease and lots of dust. It was probably down there along time. Well, I finally got around to cleaning it up. With the help of WD-40 to clean the grease and a good sanding on the wood frame it was ready for paint. I taped off the tin with painters tape and gave the frame two coats of a satin black finish.
When it was dry I lightly sanded the edges to distress the piece and bring some of the red color from underneath out. I love the finished result and can't wait to get it hung up. Somewhere in the playroom, just not quit sure yet.
I love making something old new and fresh again.
I love knowing who and where this came from and it makes me smile that it's in our home. A little something to pass along.
