Horse and Pony Rides!

After a long and busy day the kids I left Max at home for some R&R while we headed to church for the annual family BBQ, western style. It was great fun as usual! Yummy BBQ'd burgers and dogs with tons of Delicious side dishes and desserts. Bingo for the adults and several games and prizes for the kids. Best of all HORSE AND PONY RIDES!! Boy were my kids in heaven. Especially the twins.
Luke was all smiles while riding this very sweet pony.

Then it was Ava's turn, she was so excited for this moment. She has been asking to ride a horse for some time.

Colin was excited as well, he however was playing it calm and cool. Luke is in the corner feeding her carrots.

After a few rides on the pony Luke and Ava graduated to the horse. The owner commented on what good listeners they were and how well they were following directions. They were both very comfortable with the horses and confident.

Would Luke and Ava be interested in coming out to her ranch for personal riding lessons. $25.00 and hour. Sounds pretty reasonable to me. They were so excited it will be all I hear for quit some time. Colin passed on the horse ride, still a little unsure (takes after his dad). That's o.k., maybe next time. It was a fun evening. I almost forgot about it. Thank goodness my grandma called to remind me. The evening was a big hit and the kids are good a tuckered out. I pray they sleep in.
This evenings activity was once again a reminder for me that our children are always so appreciative and excited when they get to experience new things and have new opportunities. They don't gravitate towards many toys. Don't get me wrong they still enjoy them, but they talk most about and enjoy things like playing t-ball, painting at the art studio, visiting farms and ranches with animals, going camping, riding dirt bikes, trips the park, gymnastics, ballet and now riding horses. I love that they love things that are creating memories that I hope will last a life time. They might not remember the toys they played with when they were little, but I hope they will have these memories and experiences to hold onto for a lifetime.
