This is our third year camping at 49'er for their annual Halloween weekend. It is packed full of fun and plenty of things to do. We decorated our trailer and the easy up for all the trick-o-treaters. So many of the RV's and trailers go all out for the weekend. People create haunted houses and some pretty spooktacular settings.
It rained on us over the weekend, but didn't slow us down. We still decorated the trailers and junked out our pumpkins. Instead of carving, I thought it would be fun to decorate our pumpkins using odds and ends found around the house and garage. We tapped and hammered our way to pretty cool little Junk-o-Lanterns.
We enjoyed the company of my cousin Sally, her husband Josh and their two kids, Madeline and Wyatt.
These are the end results of the Junk-o-Lanterns that the kids, Max and I made.
Screws, nails, lids, bottle caps, picture hangers, bag clips, broken zippers, buttons, wire, rubber bands...the list goes on. You are only limited to your imagination and what you can find in your junk drawer.
The kids all entered the Halloween costume contest. Luke won in his age group last year, so they were all motivated to try and win this year.

2 out of 3!
Colin won first place in his age group as a MAD Scientist. He also entered in the SCREAM! contest and was a 4th place finalist. The only boy in a group of girls. We told him he didn't have a chance (lol), but he did a great job.
Then Ava took third in her age group as Baterrina. They each got a gift certificate to the campground store.
Luke was our little champion and even though he didn't place this year (a hard concept when your three and your siblings both got something) he was still a winner. When we got to the store for Colin and Ava to spend the $$, Colin bought Luke a stuffed toy with part of his prize money. I am always proud of my kids, but at that moment my heart just melted. I was so overjoyed at Colin's generosity. What a great big brother. Luke was so pleased.
We decorated, made Junk-o-Lanterns, ate great food, enjoyed wonderful company, watched movies and the Giants win the National Championship!!! enjoyed the pitter pat of rain when we feel asleep at night. We'll do it again next year, our spots are all ready reserved. Can't wait!
