Saying Goodbye

My Great Aunt Mary passed away early Monday morning. My heart is aching because she was so special and an amazing lady. Such an intelligent, beautiful, strong, and independent woman. A great role model. Growing up I have so many memories of visiting her at her house in Los Feliz. Taking vacations down south and going to Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm or Universal Studios. She always opened her home to our family with open arms. We loved visiting. We enjoyed the experiences of packing picnic dinners with her famous chicken and going to the Hollywood Bowl. A once in a lifetime opportunity that I will always cherish. Should would take Kimberly and I back to school shopping and the Galleria Mall. We thought we were sooo special. I went through my jewelry box and found the blue sapphire heart necklace she bought for me when I was in 7th grade. I lived in Ventura for about a year (going to college) where she and her daughter, Mary Ann (my cousin) have several beach front condos. We would occasionally get together for dinner, good conversation and always played Scrabble together. Safe to say that was her favorite game. She will be missed greatly and it's not goodbye, it's until we meet again. Services are tomorrow morning at Forest Lawn Cemetery where she will be layed to rest with my Uncle Gus. After 32 years they are being reunited again. How bitter sweet. We love you Aunt Mary.
