Last night Max and I held our first team meeting and practice.
It went really well. The kids were super excited and so were the parents. We had great participation from everyone. I conducted the first part of the meeting with all the fun details, practice and game schedules, snack, picture day, opening day information, team name and end of season party.
Max got to review the rules and code of conduct with the parents and kids, then he started stretching and warming them up.
After warm up several dads volunteered to help Max. The kids were divided into small groups. Max worked on batting,
another practiced running bases,
then some practiced catching and grounders.
Max was great, patient with the kids and he had several kid friendly exercises to practice with them and keep'em busy. He doesn't want them to have to much idle time. The best was "Squash the Bug." When the kids were up to bat in order to help remind them to keep their feet planted on the ground. They would pivot their back foot (that's the squash the bug part) while the front foot stayed planted on the ground. The best part was the smile on Colin's face and later at dinner he told Max and I thank you. This will be a great family experience for all of us. The twins helped pass out folders I made and hats, they also helped set up equipment. We all got involved. Luke has his t-ball meeting tonight. So starting next week we will have practices 4 nights a week plus Ava's dance lessons.
