Mystery Drive

After three weeks of patiently waiting our truck is finally finished.  We decided to take the kids on a mystery drive today.  It was a gorgeous sunny 72 degrees, so we headed out onto the open road and ended up almost to Truckee finding more than enough fresh snow to enjoy.  The further we drove the more there was.  The snow was so pretty, glistening in the bright sun with pine trees as far as the eye could see.  I love it up here.
This was the first time for the kids and Shamrock.  They had an absolute blast.
Thank goodness I had their jackets and gloves packed with me.
We wrapped Luke's foot with plastic bags because I didn't want it getting wet.  This did not slow him down at all.
Shamrock was our snow buddy.  He was having a blast running through the snow, chasing the kids, looking for other dogs to play with and enjoying the snow as a snack.

The kids tried their hands at building snow men and having snowball fights.
Shamrock, the kids and I.  The day really started to warm up around 3:00.
The jackets and sweatshirts started to come off.   How awesome is that to play in the snow with t-shirt weather.
Max, Colin, Ava and Shamrock.  Getting ready to take off and head back down the mountain.
We stopped in Historical Downtown Auburn for dinner before heading home.  This is the cutest town.  We enjoyed a little stroll and some shopping while we waited to be seated at the Auburn Ale House.
DELISH! We shared Pub Pickle Chips with a Wasabi Aioli sauce. Oh my, I could eat those all day. Everything was so good. We'll definitely make a return visit now that my mom lives up here and there were many more shops to check out.  We had such a wonderful day with the kids.  It was wonderful to be out on this amazing day spending time with each other.  We get so busy with work, school, chores and the kids activities it was refreshing not having any where to be today.  All those things will wait until tomorrow!
