Max, the kids and I headed out early this morning to Sonoma. We started cutting down an pruning all the trees and bushes around the house a couple of weekends ago. We were back today to make a bigger dent in the project.
We arrived and Keith was there with Kelton and Reid. They were actually at Shop Sale up the road, so we headed over to check out the goods. Wow! this guy had a ton of stuff to get rid of. Max scored a big new heat lamp with stand and a shop light. My mom was with us and she and I were quit impressed with the massive quantity of picture molding he had.

It was back to the property to get the trimming started. It actually turned out that we just cut everything down to stumps. Some of the trees hadn't been pruned in decades. The end result was amazing. My mom helped me cut most of the bushes down and then the guys came behind and used the chain saws to level them.
Kelton got on the rough to cut down the limbs that were resting on the shingles. It was amazing. With each and every limb, branch and vine we cut down and pulled out, this once dark, dusty, cob webbed back yard is now filled with a ton of sunlight.
My mom and I used the webster to clean around the windows. Kelton used the blower to get the leaves off the roof. Max, Kelton and Keith took several loads on the Kabota filled with branches and leaves to the burn pile. It was amazing how much sh** was hauled out.
Look at it now. I should have taken a before picture to see the real difference. The next project will be to clean out the little courtyard between the house and water shed and more trees in the front of the house. It was made very clear today the McCaffrey men are not tree huggers'. They loved their chain saws. Colin, Luke and Ava had a blast playing with Reid. I stopped working to go get drinks for everyone and took a longer detour than I wanted to get lunch. I was hungry and I new the guys and kids would be too. We enjoyed a so called picnic in the grass out back under the trees. We all worked really hard, but had a great time.
