I love spring time and all the fun activities and events the warm weather brings. April was filled with several birthday celebrations, an ice cream social and the beginnings of getting the veggie garden planted.
The kids enjoyed a birthday party at Build-a-Bear Workshop.
They also enjoyed a birthday party at Kids Gone Wild with a superhero theme.
Luke and Ava had their schools Spring Ice Cream Social fundraiser. As a member of the Ministry Team, I help sell tickets, donated a Hot Wheels gift basket for the raffle and helped set up on the day of the event.
Lanterns and pennant banners were hung.
Table centerpieces were set at each table that the children made.
My friend Dana and I sportin' our PEP shirts, helping set-up, serve and clean-up.
Max and Ava enjoying the swings on the play yard.
Colin and Luke with their buddies Vinny and Marcus.
After a school assembly where students meet the Vacaville Police Departments K-9 unit and also read "Gloria and Officer Buckle," they wanted to do something the help. The 2nd grade students started a fundraiser called Dollars for Dogs. They had Lemonade Stand, mowed lawns and did chores for friends, family and neighbors to raise money for continued training and care of the dogs. Approximately 120 students raised $750 to give the Police Department.
Another assembly was arranged where the entire 2nd grade student body joined the K-9 unit and our Police of Chief to present them with a check. After the assembly the kids got to meet officers and dogs. Colin is taking a picture with Sir. The next day our kids made the front page of our local newspaper. So, so cool! The chief said who said little kids can't do great things. I was so proud of Colin and all his 2nd grade school mates. It was a great day!
As the weather shifted from rain to sun it meant it was time to get the veggie garden planted. We have 4 varieties of tomatoes and 4 varieties of cucumbers.
A nice little batch of strawberries and we have started another potato tower. After everything was planted we surrounded our veggies with Marigolds and released several hundred ladybugs into the garden.
