After the Harvest Festival we met Max out at the barn so the kids could ride. This time was different though. We usually go out to watch Colin, but not this time.
Colin has advanced from riding his Suzuki 50 to my (now his) Yamaha 90. I couldn't believe my eyes. He did great. He concentrates and is becoming more focused when he rides. I think he has learned from past mistakes when it comes to the importance of paying attention and being aware of his surroundings. Especially with Luke riding around him we talked about being more cautious. I was excited, nervous and proud of him.
He was having a blast!
Max put the training wheels back on the 50 because now it's Luke's turn to start riding. Max attached a rope to the back of the motorcycle so he could keep up with Luke and have a little control and guide him along. This was his first time riding. Luke is a lot more timid than Colin, so he had more hesitation. In due time! I'm sure it won't be long at all before they are riding together.
My mom was there with us and loved watching the kids ride.
After spending some time in the field practicing I was quit taken back when little Miss Ava
put on the helmet and just totally went for it. She rocked! It was like she new exactly what to do
until,
on her second lap she gave it to much gas, wasn't letting off the throttle, Max was holding on and she rolled the bike. She immediately jumped up with a smile and no marks (thank god). She is one tough cookie. Having brothers will do that I guess. It was also Shamrock's 2nd Birthday! So what a great day for him to run around chasing the kids and dirt bikes. It was a great afternoon. Followed by a lovely evening. My mom was with us for one more night, so Max and I enjoyed a lovely dinner out in downtown Suisun. She rocks! The kids love having their Mimi for a visit. They popped popcorn, played games and watched cartoons. Ava loved, loved sharing her room with Mimi. They would sit up after others went to bed reading fancy, girlie decorating magazines filled with all things frilly, telling stories and giggling. I could hear it all the way down the hall. It was music to my ears and so precious. It reminded me of when my sister and I were little and stayed the night at our Grandma Hodson's house. We would climb into their big king size bed and she would tell us stories until grandpa would come in trying to scare us. Fun and silly memories I cherish and I'm sure Ava will too.
