My cousins family joined us again this year for our annual Halloween camping trip. It is always a total blast and this time was no different.
We got there on a Thursday night and Sally and Josh made a yummy steak dinner. The next day was spent lounging, decorating our trailers for Saturday nights Trick or Treat event, riding bikes, and lots of snacking, drinking and playing games, like das most vunderful game of Dutch Blitz that Sally brought. Just what camping usually entails for this family.

Later in the evening as Max and I were getting dinner ready, Sally and Josh helped all the kids carve their pumpkins. Although we had purchased the carving kits with all the stencils, the kids chose to sketch and carve their own faces. I think they turned out awesome!

Finally, the moment the kids all wait for the annual 49'er costume contest. In years past we have had Colin and Luke win in their age groups. This year was someonelse's turn. Colin however, did win 1st place in the scream contest!
Drum roll please..... Shamrock won 1st place, Best in Show for the dog costume contest. Picture to come later. It was to dark and didn't turn out well, so I need to take another one. He won a soft trophy, dog bone and travel bowl. The kids thought this was so cool.
Hector the resident candy distributor!
That night many people recognized Shamrock. The kids thought he was famous. We ate dinner a little early so we could enjoy our evening. We left out our bowl of candy with a life size skeleton affectionately named Hector, turned on the haunted Halloween music and left to enjoy RV after RV of awesome haunted houses and spooky decor. A few screams, squeals and buckets full of candy later we returned for our last campfire of the weekend. Reservations are already made for next year and we can't wait for another Spooktacular weekend.
